Kenwood Debuts Rovi Media Recognition Solution with iPhone Capability for Car Navigation Systems in Japan
Enhances In-Car Entertainment Using Extensive Rovi Music Data with Mobile App
TOKYO - 2/1/2012 - Rovi Corporation (NASDAQ: ROVI) today announced that Kenwood has integrated the Rovi Media Recognition solution with iPhone functionality into its new all-in-one AV integrated navigation systems in Japan, the MDV-737DT and MDV-535DT. The companion iPhone app "KENWOOD Music Info." pulls from Rovi's enormous collection of music metadata to allow consumers to identify CDs and songs using their iPhone and their Kenwood navigation system. JVC KENWOOD Corporation is one of Japan's largest automotive audio system manufacturers and one of the world's leading suppliers of automotive audio systems.

"Kenwood's navigation technology and Rovi's expansive music data are a powerful combination for enhancing the way consumers experience in-car entertainment with mobile applications."
The new iPhone functionality enables Kenwood users to get Rovi music metadata for even the newest releases without having to spend the time or effort to periodically update the local database embedded in their car navigation device. In addition to its iPhone app compatibility, Kenwood's in-car navigation system accesses Rovi music information such as album, track and artists' names. Also part of the in-car navigation system, KENWOOD Music Editor-VXII software incorporates Rovi's acoustic fingerprint recognition capability that uses a unique identifier created from an acoustic analysis of each audio track to automatically identify and tag music files.
The app "KENWOOD Music Info." can already be downloaded for free from the iTunes App Store, and the MDV-737DT and MDV-535DT navigation systems will be available for sale this month.
